Katie Haggath
Over the last two years, Katie has been contracted for a variety of roles in the writing space. She is most proud of her work promoting Plain English, and of being recognised with an award in this area last year.
Another year has flown by, and as 2020 comes ever closer, we thought we’d ask our TEAM Mates what they’ve been up to since joining our collective of specialists two years ago…
Katie has most recently taken on a number of contracts for other sole traders, including: website content updates, digital marketing, editing and formatting, and generating CVs, capability statements and templates. As a result, her skills with the written word have expanded to include social media marketing, amateur videography, and basic web editing.
She took on a new client in the Agriseeds Industry, and continued to hone her skills in the art of bid writing. Katie has helped Paul with a number of bids for TEAM Projects, and is a dab hand at formatting! She and Paul are eager to get the TEAM newsletter up and running as a regular thing – so expect to hear more soon.
Last year, Katie received the silver prize in her category at the 2018 Plain English Awards. The Awards are a public pat on the back for plain English champions, and help raise the bar for clear communication. She intends to nominate www.teamprojects.nz for consideration in the Best Plain English Website Category next year.
In her free time, Katie is a board member for TechCommNZ, a non-profit professional development group for technical communicators. Her biggest role this year was bringing 2019’s TechCommNZ Conference to Tauranga as part of the committee.
“The theme was sustainability; not just in terms of working paperless, but of working smarter and ensuring your career is sustainable too. We’ve had so many varied topics from talented speakers, including speakers from Microsoft, Write Ltd, and Meridian Energy,” said Katie.
When she’s not volunteering, Katie exercises her right brain with creative pursuits. She paints watercolours and sketches portraits, and is currently restoring her childhood dollhouse to its former glory.
