Paul enjoys working with good people on interesting and diverse projects, and particularly enjoys sharing knowledge and experience through mentoring and coaching. He is a firm believer that the strength of a team lies in its diversity, and its ability to harness the skills and specialisms of each and every team member. It was this that motivated Paul to form TEAM Projects Advisory Ltd. and to adopt the mantra “Share your knowledge, don’t protect it.

He has worked in the construction industry for 30 years and is a chartered Civil Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has a highly successful project management record in all forms of construction contracts, across sectors including: civil infrastructure, urban streetscapes, hotels, sports stadia and leisure, large scale land remediation, commercial projects, airports and rail, and public realm.

Paul is industry-recognised as a very competent and astute Project Director and Engineer to the Contract, and is renowned for his ability to structure appropriate and project-specific procurement mechanisms and methodologies. He is passionate about balancing new developments with the existing environment and minimising the impact of projects on their surroundings.

Paul has managed and advised on many large-scale infrastructure and public space projects, most recently in post-earthquake Christchurch. Paul was Project Director for the Integrated Terminal Project at Christchurch Airport, the $42m Christchurch Bus Interchange, Avon River Precinct, Margaret Mahy Playground and was project manager for major rail and hotel projects in Auckland.

Paul has worked in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and New Zealand, and brings a broad spectrum of experience – both professional and multi-cultural – to his approach and work ethic.

In the UK Paul had a particular specialism in the project development of sports stadia, including the KC Stadium and Sports Park in Hull, and Riverside Stadium in his home town of Middlesbrough.

Paul’s attitude is to be “nett positive” by which he means he always strives to leave every project environment in a better position than where it started.
