The $70 million redevelopment of Newmarket rail station included the reconfiguration of main rail lines to keep the operational railway running whilst construction works proceeded, construction of temporary stations and platforms, new pedestrian and road bridge structures, and a completely new rail station to serve Newmarket.
Lessons to be shared
The project site was in the heart of a busy commercial district. Careful consideration of sequencing, phasing and construction methodologies were key to minimising disruption to rail commuters, road users, neighbours and residents, and to the project’s ultimate success.
