Andrew Taylor
Another year has flown by, and as 2020 comes ever closer, we thought we’d ask our TEAM Mates what they’ve been up to since joining our collective of specialists two years ago…
In addition to being a TEAM Mate, Andrew has now been trading as Andrew Taylor Consulting Ltd for two very successful years.
One of Andrew’s favourite projects of the last two years was the Karangahape Road Streetscape Redevelopment, as the project was highly socially inclusive, and the diverse community were very much involved in the decision making and direction of the design. Andrew’s experience in facilitated stakeholder engagement was essential to achieve alignment, and confirm understanding and support for the project objectives.
Another was Hayman Park Upgrade in Manukau. The Hayman Park upgrade is a key project to bring adjoining developments, such as the rail station development, new bus depot and MIT Campus on the boundary of the Park, together.
Andrew has been working with Auckland Transport on public transport projects, including the expansion of the train platform at Penrose to accommodate six car trains, and a land enablement project for the EMU (electric train) Depot at Wiri to increase capacity and accommodate additional trains.
Andrew has also worked in the private sector with clients who have strong principles around achieving sustainable outcomes for their projects.
“I love working with people who are passionate about what they are doing. My clients choose to work with a project manager who understands and buys into their vision, just as I choose projects that align with my values,” Andrew said.
In future, Andrew is looking forward to being part of the urban regeneration of Auckland.
Andrew is working as project manager for the development of a Business Case under the Treasury Better Business Case framework for Auckland Council’s proposed Victoria Linear Park.
Victoria Linear Park is included in the Auckland City Centre Masterplan (2012) and is envisioned as a high-amenity cross-city centre green link connecting Victoria Park and Albert Park. The Business Case process will study the potential for fewer vehicle lanes, wider footpaths and the opportunity to develop a green infrastructure link incorporating ecological and biodiversity corridor principles to enhance environmental regeneration.
“Auckland is changing rapidly. It’s a really exciting time to be here, to be part of its regeneration and shaping its future,” said Andrew.
